Pharmaceutical grade lactose is produced by supersaturating lactose by concentrating whey or permeate (a by-product of whey protein concentrate production), followed by removal, refining, drying and grinding of lactose crystals. Pharmaceutical grade lactose is produced to exacting specifications such as specific forms and size distributions of monohydrate, crystalline, 40 mesh to 325 mesh, and spray-dried blends of crystalline and amorphous lactose for all applications. All products meet the requirements of American, European and Japanese Pharmacopoeias.
