One is new scrap copper, which is the scrap produced in the production process of copper industry. Metallurgical plants are known as "home scrap" or "run around". Copper scrap produced by copper processing plants and scrap copper that is directly returned to supply factories are called "industrial scrap copper", "spot copper scrap" ("spot") or new copper scrap. The other is used copper scrap, which is discarded after use, such as from old buildings and transportation systems or demolished. Copper and copper-based materials, whether exposed or encased in the final product, can be recycled at all stages of the product life cycle. Generally speaking, more than half of the scrap copper used for regeneration is new scrap copper.
