The ADF-MSA100 Peak Flow Meter is a handheld spirometry medical device that measures your maximum possible expiratory volume, known as peak expiratory flow (PEF) and forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1). Accuracy complies with the 2005 revision of American Thoracic Society (ATS) standards.
A peak flow meter is used to measure a person's "peak expiratory flow," which is a simple measure of airflow that tells you how well you're breathing. It tells you how air is moving in the airways of your lungs. Forced Expiratory Volume (FEV1) is a measure of the volume of air exhaled in 1 second. If you have a respiratory condition such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or chronic bronchitis, your doctor (or other licensed healthcare professional) may recommend that you use a peak flow meter to watch for changes in airflow.
