Small Boss Flexible Expansion Seal
Intumescent seals that expand in a fire to seal door frames and glass applications help prevent the passage of fire, smoke and toxic gases. Small Boss has a wide range of intumescent seals for OEM and retrofit aftermarket. Intumescent seals are primarily used in door assemblies made by fire door manufacturers who integrate a small boss sealing system into the door assembly at the factory. Fire rated door assemblies for wood, steel or composite construction, Small Boss Intumescent rapidly expands to many times its original size (6-30 times) upon contact with fire. It concentrates high voltage in confined spaces, slowly peels off after activation to protect itself, and has good insulating properties. When properly positioned on the edge of a door leaf or frame, the seal expands when activated to prevent the transfer of flames, hot smoke and smoke from one compartment to another. Unlike sodium silicate-based materials, Small Boss' unique intumescent material is not affected by water, making it ideal for applications in wet or humid environments. Intumescent material is clean, non-toxic, and offers excellent durability and reliability.
