Granulated blast furnace slag powder

Granulated blast furnace slag powder (GGBFS) is produced by quenching molten blast furnace slag (a by-product of steel production) in water to produce a glassy granular product, which is then dried and ground into fine powder GGBFS. It is mainly composed of: calcium silicate and aluminum silicate, and its chemical composition is similar to these respective natural minerals and hydrated Portland cement. GGBFS is generally finer than Type 1 Portland cement. It is an off-white powder with a specific gravity of about 2.88 and handles and disperses like Portland cement.

use

It is used as a partial replacement or addition to the Portland cement binder component in concrete. Also commonly used in the production of low heat concrete used in mass concrete structures. Another application of GGBFS is as a low cost extender/filler/binder in concrete masonry, concrete pavers, concrete roof tiles and other concrete products, mortar grouts, cement based coatings etc.

maintenance

Due to the slow hydration rate of slag-blended cement, curing should be carried out continuously, preferably for 28 days or longer, so as to fully meet the design requirements of durability, strength, demoulding (demolding) time and performance.

dose

The optimum substitute dosage will vary with the application and desired properties of the concrete. The cementitious material is usually replaced at between 50% and 70%.

Packed in 1.5 tonne FIBC and loaded onto a breakbulk vessel.
