• How long a tool remains sharp depends on material type, contamination and of course production
• Properly sharpened knives increase productivity, reduce dust and fines levels, reduce energy consumption, and generally minimize pelletizer stress.
• Always have at least one extra set of knives on hand, sharpened and preset to ensure minimal downtime when tool changes are stopped
• A set of rotating knives must be ground to the same size to keep the rotor balanced. Always grind the most worn knife first to set the level.
• A set of knives can be re-sharpened 10-12 times with normal wear
